Speakonia is a tool which reads the text out loud, and it comes with about 20 voices. Every voice has a robust robotic accent. It allows you to change the reading speed and pitch of the voice quickly.

It has a little trouble when it comes to correct pronunciation of words. It can save the text in WAV files for playback when you are driving and even jogging, but it can`t save sound files in MP3 format. To do so, you may need to use a third-party conversion utility.

Speakonia has a clear and straightforward interface, and you can select the text you want and copy and paste it into the app. It lacks controls of skipping to the next paragraph and sentence, but it has decent performance, and because it is free, it can turn out to be a reasonable choice for a lot of people who like reading with their ears than their eyes. The reading can be paused, resumed and can easily be exported if you want to do so.

Speakonia can also fetch web pages through an internal HTTP interface and read them aloud to you. You can even have emails read to your using the Clipboard Reading feature.
