WinContig is a free defragmentation tool that doesn’t need installation, thus working as a standalone executable. It was developed with one thing in mind: the possibility to defragment a chosen file/ files. In this way, users walk around the need to defragment the entire disk for a bunch of fragmented files. However, periodic defragmentation of the disk’s partitions remains highly advisable.

We should also mention that the basic interface also integrates a profile section that allows users group files into preferred continuous blocks on the hard disk, according to the way information is accessed in every session.

Command-line switches improve the speed at which more advanced users can perform the defragmentation of a hard disk or only of a file.
